UUCB Staff

Interim Minister, Rev. Becky Gunn — Rev. Gunn of Albany, NY, is a recently ordained minister, with an MBA in addition to her Master's of Divinity, and a 30-year successful career in business in the San Francisco Bay area. She graduated from Starr King School for the Ministry in 2005. She did her internship for the First UU Society of Albany, NY, where she earned an excellent reputation as a preacher, teacher, and motivator. She has been active in leadership positions in her home church in Fremont, CA, and was the Moderator of the Pacific Central District and a consultant for St. Lawrence District. Her business career gave her experience in strategic planning, finance, conflict resolution, team building, and motivation. She has extensive pastoral experience in addition to be a strong presence in the pulpit.
Community Minister, Rev. Barbara Eaton Molfese — Rev. Molfese is a community minister (chaplain) endorsed by UUCB. She provides ministerial services for the UUCB congregation in cooperation with the minister, including sermons, weddings, memorial services, children's chapels, and pastoral care. She is the counseling supervisor and chaplain at Boulder Valley Women's Health Center.
Office Administrator — This position is currently vacant. In the meantime, Eileen Tobin and Shari Storm will be sharing the office duties.
Director of Religious Education, Diana Hultgren — Diana Hultgren has been a member of UUCB since 2005. A native Ohioan, she studied English and Biology at Kent State University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Iliff School of Theology in Denver.
Choir Director, Margaret Scharff — Margaret Scharff was the choir accompanist for UUCB from 2003 to 2007. She grew up in Oakland, California, where she began taking piano lessons at the age of 5. She received her bachelor's in music from University of Colorado in 1998 and her master's in music there in 2002. She currently lives in Boulder and makes her living in town as a private piano teacher, choir teacher, and choir director.
Choir Pianist, Sara Parkinson— Sara Parkinson received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and her master's degree in piano performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She was active as a soloist and chamber musician in the Boston and New York areas before moving abroad to teach at a boarding school in Switzerland. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies at CU in Boulder with Anne Epperson. She has attended the Aspen Music Festival (2000), Musicorda Chamber Music Festival (2001, 2002), and Music Academy of the West (2006). She was recently awarded the Denes Koromzay Chamber Music Award at CU.
Church Bookkeeper, Renee Loewen — Renee Loewen has been UUCB's bookkeeper since June 2003. She works closely with our Treasurer, Finanace Council, and Board of Trustees, and sends out regular pledge statements to pledging members and friends. She started her business, Bottom Line Bookkeeping and Billing, in 2000. Renee lives in Broomfield with her husband and daughter.
Church Handy Man, Jaime Alvarez — Jaime Alvarez is the person responsible for doing minor repairs and routine maintenance on our wonderful church building. His job includes replacing burned out light bulbs, touching up chipped and worn paint, installing new faucets, maintaining our five furnaces, cleaning debris from rain gutters, maintaining evaporative coolers, repairing worn doors and windows, etc. Jamie takes pride in doing all of those little “fix-up jobs” that keep our church building in operational order and looking good. Jamie works full time as a maintenance man at a local nursing home and as part-time handy man at another Boulder church.
