About the UU Church of BoulderThe current Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder formally dates from 1948, although there was a Unitarian presence in Boulder, Colorado in the 1880s (read church history). Since that time, UUCB has provided spiritual enrichment and friendship, moral guidance, and intellectual leadership to its members and visitors. It has helped generations of progressive thinkers champion causes that promote social justice, environmental protection, religious freedom, and world peace. In 1999, UUCB became a Welcoming Congregation to formally proclaim its acceptance and celebration of diversity — of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, age, abilities, culture, and religious background. UUCB is handicapped-accessible. The beliefs of UUCB members are varied and inclusive. We come from Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, humanist, shamanist, scientific, pagan, Wiccan, earth-centered, atheist, and agnostic backgrounds, and we incorporate many of these traditions into our services. We are accepting of all religions and believe that creation is too mystical to be reduced to any "one truth." Our purpose is not to tell you who to be or what to believe, but together to find greater meaning in each of our lives. We have principles that guide our behavior, but no creeds — dogma often limits our human ability to use reason and our senses to experience our marvelous universe. We believe in the intrinsic worth of all people and in life's creative power, and we offer a community of faith that reveres the interconnected web of all life. We celebrate, learn, and grow together through Sunday morning worship services, religious education programs for all ages, community service activities, support groups, and social events. To get a better feel for the rich variety of our services, programs, and activities, read how to get involved and request a copy of our church newsletter, the Clear Light Messenger. We invite you to stop by for a Sunday morning worship service (newcomers: read a description of what to expect at a Sunday service), and then stay after for coffee and conversation.
