The UUCB Environmental Web is a group within the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder.
Build relationships, expertise and teams within UUCB to help ourselves, the congregation, the community, and the UUA evolve to a fulfilling and sustainable way of life.
We encourage participation by everyone associated with UUCB in any way. Everyone has something to learn and share in this area and the more diverse our backgrounds and perspectives the more quickly and effectively we can make real progress.
We welcome any level of commitment: from a single comment or reflection shared with another member; to total commitment to round-the-clock activism.
We are an emergent force within the congregation, working in many different ways. These include discussion groups within Adult RE; short-term action-oriented teams to accomplish a particular goal (like drafting a resolution for the UUCB Congregational meeting, planning a service, or evolving to a Green Sanctuary); a "Strands From the Web" column in the newsletter, e-mail discussions; hiking groups; scientific investigations of how to produce light from our chalice with renewable fuels; and the sharing of mystical experiences in the mountains.
We keep in touch in many ways - person-to-person, at team & class meetings, thru phone, paper and email, and via web pages.
The web pages are at http://bcn.boulder.co.us/uuc/env/ They include copies of Sunday services, resolutions, pointers to other resources, etc. A printed copy of the page is posted on the congregational bulletin board.
As you can see, we operate in a variety of styles, from very casual interactions to orderly, focused teams. Bring up new ideas or volunteer to lead an activity and we'll fit them in somewhere. Persistent instigators include Neal McBurnett and Joni Teter.
