UUCB Green Action
Here are some ideas for UUCB action on the environment.
- Offer at least two services per year on environmental themes
- Continue and expand offerings in the adult enrichment program
- Encourage/facilitate development by UUA of children's RE curriculum
on environmental themes; include environmental themes in "For All
Ages"
- Include "Seventh Principle" language in UUCB ceremonies, such as
welcoming new members and honoring elders
- Create a "Green Corner" for information sharing and awareness raising
(physical, newsletter and web)
- Begin a program to make the UUCB facilities as environmentally
responsible as possible, starting with an energy audit, a waste
audit, a toxics audit (including testing the well), and a
landscaping evaluation; to be followed by proposals for UUCB
policies on energy use, product procurement, toxics use, and native
species use and habitat management on church grounds.
- Do field trips to our local landfill, water or wastewater plant, water
supply, recycling center and an environmental justice neighborhood
- Facilitate church car pools & other alternative transportation
- Develop a relationship with an environmental
justice group
